This has got to be one of the most disappointing mac & cheese reviews we've had to do thus far. Phillips barbecue is a staple name in Los Angeles for barbecue. You would think that everything on their menu would be up to par but unfortunately their macaroni and cheese is their Achilles’ heel. The macaroni and cheese is so bad, I'm surprised no one has filed a complaint with the FTC.
It's just insulting.
It's insulting because it just doesn’t make sense. How can everything on the menu be good except the macaroni and cheese. A majority of the customers are African-American. Yet, no one has fixed this issue. Clearly the barbecue is keeping them afloat and not the macaroni and cheese.
Someone at that establishment had to approve the final version of this Mac and cheese. Whoever it is needs to be fired or removed from the Phillips barbecue community.
So,... let’s go over what makes it so bad.
Taste: Cheap and over processed cheese. you might as well get a box of Kraft. The macaroni itself is so over cooked it’s practically mush. The entire dish as a whole may send you into cardiac arrest due to high blood pressure because it’s so salty. I kid you NOT!
The only positive is the cheese layer on top. that seems to be the only high-quality cheese they put in the dish.
Long story short ask any African-American in LA if they order the macaroni and cheese from Phillips barbecue and a majority will tell you no!
